UTORrecover NetWorker: Port mapper failure - Timed out

 Problem

Protected Client errors can be browsed in https://backups.eis.utoronto.ca/protected-clients/logs?client_hostname=&completion_status=Failed

Unable to create session channel with nsrexecd on host {hostname} to execute command ... Port mapper failure - Timed out {hostname}:savefs: retried 3 times.

 Solution

  1. Login to the UTORrecover Portal https://backups.eis.utoronto.ca

  2. Submit an Echo Request https://backups.eis.utoronto.ca/request/echo

  3. If the Echo Request result in Error Processed , please verify:

    NetWorker Agent is running. Check based on OS, i.e. systemctl status networker
    Protected Client IP Address matches what’s listed in https://backups.eis.utoronto.ca/protected-clients
    Firewall rules are properly set. Review UTORrecover - NetWorker TCP/IP and Firewall Checklist
  4. Submit an Echo Request https://backups.eis.utoronto.ca/request/echo if you addressed any of the items in Step 3.

  5. An Echo Request with Processed will likely result in a succesful backup.
