VMware Tools Automatic Upgrade fails with the error: vix error code = 21009

Problem
VMware tools automatic upgrade fails with error "vix error code = 21009".
Solution
This is a known issue affecting VMware ESXi 5.5 and 6.0 while running the automated VMware tools upgrade.
In order to workaround the issue, please chose one of the following:
Run the VMware Tools Upgrade Manually. Refer to VMware Tools are not installed automatically via vSphere Client
Follow VMware KB Article VMware Tools Automatic Upgrade fails with the error: vix error code = 21009 (2129927)
