The following Virtual Machine specs can be updated via the Change Request Form:
- Memory - Size of the Virtual Machine memory.
- CPU - Number of virtual CPUs.
- CD/DVD backend - Client device or one of our ISO images (Load an ISO image in a Virtual Machine)
- Networking - Add/remove interface or update backend network.
- Hard Disk Drive - Update capacity, add new or delete disk.
- State - Power On/Off, Reset, Restart, Delete.
- Name - Virtual Machine Name.
- Folder - Containing Folder.
- Admin - VM Administrator.
- Guest OS - Guest Operating System. This is just a VM configuration and does not reinstall the OS.
- Usage - Update its usage to either Production, Development, QA or Testing.
- Description - Application/Service description.
- Boot Delay - This adds a delay to the initial POST screen, showing it for longer and giving you more time to access the BIOS setup.
- Informational contacts. Contacts listed wouldn't necessarily need to know deep technical details, just that something is happening (or has happened) that could affect their application or their service connected with that VM.
All of the above are automated (meaning that your request must be completed in up to 15 minutes), however if you need any other change not listed, use the option "Other, Not automated".
Step-by-step guide
- Login to http://hig.eis.utoronto.ca
- Go to the Change Request Form.
- Fill out the basic informational data.
- Select the VM you would like to change.
- Select the VM Property to change and fill out any additional information.
- Preview and submit the request.
If you need to apply the same change to many VMs, unfortunately at this time you'd need to submit a change request per VM.
