Objective

Edit a Virtual Machine (VM) template.

Steps

To edit a VM template, you must first convert it to a Virtual Machine (VM). Once the necessary changes have been applied, you can convert it back to a VM Template. In this example, we will update the Network Adapter using the VM Template 2006T-CentOS7-Template-1.

  1. Login into Cloud Portal UI

  2. Access Templates menu option:

    1. Click on the hamburger icon and navigate to the Templates tab.

  3. Disable VM Template:

    1. Select the desired VM Template.

    2. Click the Template switch to turn it off.

    3. When prompted, click Yes to confirm.

    4. This action will convert the VM Template into a Virtual Machine (VM).

  4. Locate the Virtual Machine:

    1. Click the hamburger icon and go to the Virtual Machines section.

  5. Edit the Virtual Machine:

    1. Select and click Edit on the VM you previously converted from a VM Template (2412P-FinlabVM-Template-2025).

  6. Update Network Adapter:

    1. Navigate to the NETWORKS tab.

    2. Edit the Network Adapter and select VL-0253-EIS-VSS-CGN (CGN network for VSS public on-campus VMs).

  7. Save Changes:

    1. Click the Update button.

    2. Confirm by clicking Yes when prompted.

  8. Reconfigure as VM Template:

    1. Edit the VM again to configure it back as a VM Template.

    2. Click Yes to confirm the change.

  9. Review Updates:

    1. The VM Template is now updated. You should see the updated template in the Templates menu under the hamburger icon.
