Instructions below refer to OpenVPN access. Similarly detailed instructions for WireGuard access are still pending. In the meantime, to try out WireGuard VPNs, please visit the preliminary VSKEY WireGuard management page.

Step-by-step guides:

Mac OS 

Alternatively, consult the UTORvpn Mac OS X install instructions, substituting "vskey-gw.ovpn" and "vskey-gw.crt" for each mention of "utorvpn.ovpn

  1. Download and install Tunnelblick OpenVPN client

  2. Fetch the configuration files from the VSS-VPN gateway via either of the following methods:

    1. Unified configuration file via email (recommended).

    2. OpenVPN profile and cert: vskey-gw.ovpn and vskey-gw.crt.

  3. Double click on vskey-gw.ovpn.

  4. Select whether the VPN will be available for All users or Only you. Type in your admin credentials.

  5. Select Done.

  6. Go to the taskbar and look for the Tunnelblick icon, click on it and select "Connect vskey-gw".

  7. Type your VSKEY credentials.

Windows

Alternatively, consult the UTORvpn Windows install instructions, substituting "vskey-gw.ovpn" and "vskey-gw.crt" for each mention of "utorvpn.ovpn"

  1. Download and install the OpenVPN client.

  2. Fetch the configuration files from the VSS-VPN gateway via either of the following methods:

    1. Unified configuration file via email (recommended).

    2. OpenVPN profile and cert: vskey-gw.ovpn and vskey-gw.crt.

      Please note: if you're using Internet Explorer to fetch the files, vskey-gw.crt might be saved as vskey-gw.cer. If this happens, please rename vskey-gw.cer back to vskey-gw.crt.


  3. Copy both configuration files to OpenVPN configuration directory: 

    "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config\"

    or with Windows 7 ...

    "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\OpenVPN\Config\".

    or 

    C:\Users\<username>\OpenVPN\Config\

  4. Run OpenVPN as Administrator (Right Click on OpenVPN Icon and click "Run as Administrator").

  5. Search for the icon in the taskbar and click connect.

  6. Type your VSKEY credentials. 

Don't forget to run OpenVPN as Administrator  otherwise the necessary network routes will not be installed and VSS-specific traffic will not be forwarded through the VPN.

Android 4.x

  1. Download and install the OpenVPN Connect Android app, from the VSS-VPN gateway or from Google Play.

  2. Follow the configuration instructions available courtesy of UTORvpn BUT instead of step 3 (install the configuration), visit VSS unified OpenVPN to have the configuration file sent via email. That email will include instructions on how to handle the attached configuration.

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Install the OpenVPN Connect iOS app from iTunes / the IOS App Store.

  2. Follow the configuration instructions available courtesy of UTORvpn BUT instead of step 2 (install the configuration), visit VSS unified OpenVPN to have the configuration file sent via email. That email will include instructions on how to handle the attached configuration.

Ubuntu Linux

  1. Install Network Manager (OpenVPN) using apt-get:

    [on Ubuntu-14.04]
    	$ sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn
    
    [on Ubuntu-16.04]
    	$ sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn network-manager-openvpn-gnome

  2. Fetch the configuration files from the VSS-VPN gateway via either of the following methods:

    1. Unified configuration file via email (recommended).

    2. OpenVPN profile and cert: vskey-gw.ovpn and vskey-gw.crt.

  3. From the network manager drop down, choose Configure VPN 

  4. Choose "Add" .

  5. Choose "Import a saved VPN configuration..." and click "Create".

  6. Select the ovpn file and confirm that the crt file is in the same directory.

  7. Input your VSS username, and choose your password preference.

  8. Choose the "IPv4 Settings" tab, click the "Routes..." button and select "Use this connection only for resources on its network."

  9. Click "OK", then "Save", then "Close".

  10. Activate the VPN connection and test your login.
