How-to decommission virtual or physical hosts in UTORrecover

When you submit a request to "decommission" a client, its state will be set to "retired". Once all backup save-sets have expired, based on the retention policy, the system will automatically transition the client to the "decommissioned" state.

Recoveries can still be performed from any unexpired save-sets while the client remains in the retired state. However, being in the retired state prevents any further backups from being performed by that client.

Billing for "retired" clients does not stop until NetWorker has automatically decommissioned them, after it has purged all of their save-sets.

Instructions

  1. Login to the UTORrecover Portal: https://backups.eis.utoronto.ca

  2. Click on Requests > Decommission
